Comparison

Sad to say, there are few differences between my first speech, and my last. However, with my first speech, you could tell that I was very nervous. I also said 'um' a lot. I played with my hands and rings a lot throughout both speeches; that is something that I really need to work on. Also, in my last speech, I was very fidgety. I played with my hands, rings, and also my clothes. I did improve on becoming less nervous. In my final speech, I also finished with an ending statement, instead of 'that's it'. I feel like I am getting better at speeches, but I defiantly have a lot more work to do.

How to Speech

For my 'How to Speech' I decided to describe how to make brownies. I believe that the more speech's I do, the more comfortable I become. The first speech, I was really nervous; but by this speech, I'm almost not nervous at all. What I did well, was that I looked at everyone in the class. I also think that I was better at describing my project; and speaking clearly. I also didn't play with my rings at all. I probably didn't play with my rings as much, because I was using my hands more.

What I need to work on is learning how to start and end my speech. I still end with "that's it". I believe I end with that because I'm not sure of what else to say. Also, during this speech there was a lot of silence when I was mixing the batter, etc. I need to work on thinking of more things to talk about during my speech, so I don't bore my audience.

Informative Speech

Sad to say, I believe that I did worse in this speech than I did in my first speech. My main problem I need to work on is playing with my hands and rings. I get so nervous I don't even notice that I seem to fidget a lot. Another thing I noticed was that I only faced one side of the class, because I was reading the slide too much. I didn't start or end the speech with any hooks. For example, At the beginning I just stated what I was doing my speech about. And in the end, I ended with " and that's it ". For my next speech, I need to work on my introduction and conclusion more; so I can grasp the attention of the audience. I believe that I seem to sike myself out before I give a speech. Therefore, I become more nervous then I really should be. However, I seem to never be any less nervous as I give more and more speeches. Because I get nervous, I start to stumble on my words a little bit. I believe that on my next speech I will have a better introduction and conclusion. I will also try to have more eye contact with the audience and use more hand gestures.

Brown Bag Speech

Giving a speech has never been my forte. I get extremely nervous, and I start to shake. For me, it's very nerve-raking to get up infront of a class and give a speech. However, I feel like I did better than I thought I would do. Things that I need to work on are swaying back and forth, saying uhm, and playing with my hands. I could also work on talking slower and louder. I didnt shake as much as I thought, and I also didnt look at my notecard; which is a good thing! I hope that I get better at giving a speech as the year goes on.

About Me..

Hey! My name is Kelly Ross. I'm a junior in high school, and so far, loving it. I've been playing volleyball since third grade, and currently play on the varsity team here at Anderson. I love animals; my dog's name is Betsy Ross. In fact, I love animals so much, I am a vegetarian, and have been for two years. Before you ask, I am a vegetarian because I don't agree with the way they treat animals. One thing that I really love to do is photography. Even though I'm not the best at it, I enjoy taking pictures at different perspectives, with different lighting, etc. I got my licence about two months ago, and I just got a car; a BUICK! Even though it's definately not an ideal car, I'm just happy I have a car. The types of music in my iPod varies. I like all music from rap, to country, to alternative, to pop. I love high school, but just like many others, I can't wait to get out. One more year and I'm off to college!
